“The Chill of an Early Fall”
Sung in a Texas drawl
“I’d Like to Have That One Back”
Heartbreak oozing out every track
“Fool Hearted Memory” and “Baby Blue”
Man, they help to get me through
“Nobody in His Right Mind Would’ve Left Her”
A reminder of everything we once were
Here comes “I Hate Everything”
She gave me back her diamond ring
“Famous Last Words of a Fool”
Music so beautiful and cruel
To heal a broken heart
There’s nothing like King George
But right now, I need a new start
I need beaches and bikinis
I need sand and sun
I need hula skirts and tikis
I’m moving on from
whiskey and neon bars
It’s about time for
margaritas and beachside cigars
I’ve had enough Strait
Tonight, I’m switching to Kenny
I’m ready for Mexican beer
and a wooden boat to steer
I’ll sit in an old blue chair
And breathe in that coastal air
I’m ready for the sunshine
And an island girl so fine
I’ll sing a pirate song
And say to reality “so long”
Bring on the summertime
And the salt and lime
No need for shirts and shoes
Waving farewell to my blues
To heal a broken heart
There’s nothing like King George
But right now, I need a new start
I need beaches and bikinis
I need sand and sun
I need hula skirts and tikis
I’m moving on from
whiskey and neon bars
It’s about time for
margaritas and beachside cigars
I’ve had enough Strait
Tonight, I’m switching to Kenny
When you’ve got a broken heart
There’s nothing stronger than George Strait
But when it’s time to make a new start
You’ve got to switch to Kenny
Tonight, I’m switching to Kenny
Have you ever tried to turn the poems into songs? They have the rhythm!
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Diana. I appreciate that you would say that. I don’t have much of a musical background but I did write these with the idea of it being lyrics. Who knows, they might end up their someday. I appreciate the support, and I am blessed you liked them.
