She’s a Saturday night
Rum and whiskey
But just one drink
makes her tipsy
She’s a Sunday morning
First row church pew
And beach towel sitting
With an ocean view
She’s a nightly call
Home to her mother
And fiercely protective
Of her sister and brother
She’s a goodnight
Bedside prayer
And a slice of pizza
At the county fair
She’s earbuds
And a morning run
Legs pumping
Toward the rising sun
She’s ripped blue jeans
And a concert t-shirt
Or a black crop top
And a miniskirt
There’s a part of her
People get to know
But another part
She won’t show
She’s got a glass heart
Someone let it fall
And it broke apart
There was a guy
Who treated her bad
Some fool who had
No idea what he had
She’s trying to hold on
A little longer
Every day she gets
A little bit stronger
She’s putting the pieces
Back in their place
But Lord it takes so much
strength and grace
Right now, her world
Seems dark
But her faith
Will light a spark
And mend her glass heart
She’s going Dutch
On the first date
And stealing the French fries
Right off your plate
She’s dancing alone
At the shore of the lake
And eating a second slice
Of banana cake
She’s a Colorado
mountaintop climber
And a Pacific island
Seaside diver
She’ll take the covers
When she’s lying in bed
And on a karaoke mic
She’s drop dead
She’ll get lost
In her own driveway
And most of the time
She’s gotta have it her way
She’s a slow walk
in the full moonlight
Or goodbye tears
and fading taillights
There’s some of her
The world gets to know
But another part
She won’t show
She’s got a glass heart
Someone let it fall
And it broke apart
There was a guy
Who treated her bad
Some fool who had
No idea what he had
She’s trying to hold on
A little longer
Every day she gets
A little bit stronger
She’s putting the pieces
Back in their place
But Lord it takes so much
strength and grace
Right now, her world
Seems dark
But her faith
Will light a spark
And mend her glass heart
If by some
divine circumstance
That girl gives
you a chance
Don’t you dare
let it fall apart
Because she only has
One glass heart
